Meet Our Exceptional Instructors

Our instructors are the heart and soul of Challenger Troop. They embody our core values and dedicate themselves to empowering young people.

Highly Qualified and Experienced

  • Seasoned Professional – All instructors possess extensive experience working with children and young people. Many served in the Armed Forces, bringing valuable leadership skills and discipline.
  • Rigorously Vetted – Every instructor undergoes enhanced DBS checks, Team-Teach training, First-Aid certification, and annual safeguarding training.
  • Masters of Many Skills – Our instructors are highly skilled and knowledgeable in a wide range of subjects, including bushcraft, survival, navigation, first aid, and fostering teamwork and leadership.
  • Activity Experts – They hold various qualifications to lead a diverse range of activities, sports, and outdoor pursuits – from archery and climbing to expedition walking, fitness training, mountain biking, and much more.

Committed to Every Student

Beyond their professional qualifications, our instructors possess exceptional experience working with young people facing social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties (SEBD), special educational needs, learning difficulties, and other disabilities. They firmly believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of background or history. They are passionate about unlocking each student’s potential and helping them achieve their goals.

The Challenger Troop Difference

Our instructors are more than just teachers; they are mentors, motivators, and role models who challenge, encourage, and empower young people to achieve their full potential.

Support and Inspiration

Our instructors work as inspirational role models. Whilst they challenge our candidates both physically, mentally and emotionally, if the candidates flounder, the instructors give them support; when the candidates succeed, everybody celebrates.
