Challenger Troop Adventure Camps
Challenger Troop CIC are pleased to announce the proposed date for our out of school, Residential Camps for 2019.
In response to a high number of requests from parents, we are pleased to announce that we will be running two high-impact 4-day, 3-night residential camps; 9th – 12th of April, 30th July – 2nd of August and 6th – 9th August.
Specifically designed for young people from the ages of 10-16 years, participants will enjoy an outdoor camp experience with military-style discipline, firm structure and behaviour boundaries. Throughout the programme there will be a focus on life skills such as respect, responsibility and resilience. Participants will be asked to push themselves to reach goals they never thought possible, with the support and encouragement of our experienced ex-military instructors.
Some of the activities included are: Climbing, Archery, Shooting, Laser tag, Bushcraft, Camp Craft, Navigation and feild Cooking. The week will culminate in an Awards Ceremony where parents, friends and family are invited to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of the participants. The Adventure Camps have been a huge success in the past, but don’t take our word for it – just look at some of the comments from past participants:
“AWESOME!” “HARD WORK BUT FUN!” “BRILLIANT!” “WISH IT WAS LONGER!”
Through the programme participants will develop key life skills including:
- Communicating with others including learning the importance of listening
- A greater sense of self-awareness and self-reliance and an improved sense of self-confidence and motivation
- How to work as part of a team to achieve a set task
- How to live and work together, including learning consideration and respect for others and a deeper understanding of how different behaviours and attitudes can affect those around us
- An awareness of safety and risk
- Appreciation of the natural world around them
Simon Dean OBE, CEO and Founder, says “We are developing life-skills to fulfil their potential to have a brighter future. We aim to instil a ‘Spirit of Adventure’ and have a lasting impact on their behaviour, confidence and life-chances.”
Places are strictly limited. The programme is funded through our Adventure Camps Funds for which a contribution of £275 per participant covers the costs which includes all food, accommodation, loan of uniform, residential equipment, activities, and transfers.
