Further Enrichment days announced

Challenger Troop CIC in association with Firepower, The Royal Artillery Museum is pleased to announce further Enrichment Days for KS2, 3 and 4 students.

These days offer a practical, immersive and enquiry-led approach, and provide the opportunity for participants to develop conflict resolution and teamwork skills and to improve their communication skills and confidence.

During the day each team will complete a series of challenges led by our instructors in ‘challenge zones’ set in a courtyard within one of Woolwich Arsenal’s historic 19th-century former munitions buildings. These challenges can include:

  • Obstacle Course
  • Command Task
  • Drill Challenge
  • Relay Challenge
  • Team Challenge

In between team challenges, small groups of students get the opportunity to learn more about Firepower’s collections through learning sessions with museum staff – with your input we’ll tailor the subject matter, themes or century to support what is being studied back in class. This programme is designed to complement the National Curriculum.

The Enrichment Day ends with an award ceremony and a chance for everyone to acknowledge their and their classmates’ achievements (pupils’ medals included in the cost).

The day is designed to take pupils out of their everyday comfort zones in a fun way, fully supported at all times by experienced instructors and professional museum staff – and when the children succeed, everybody celebrates!

Dates available include:

  • 12th September 2014
  • 19th September 2014
  • 17th October 2014
  • 14th November 2014

Costs: Pupils £8.50 each. There is no charge for accompanying staff/helpers. Drinks are provided, please bring packed lunch, waterproof jackets and outdoor shoes.
