CT receives “Inspire the House” award

We are delighted that we have been awarded a joint Highly Commended in the Community Group category in the Kids Count 7th Inspiration Awards. Kids Count, the charity behind these awards, state “These awards provide an opportunity to recognise the many unsung heroes – from mentors to young people themselves – doing great work in the community”.

Simon Dean, Founder and CEO of Challenger Troop, said “We were thrilled to receive the news that we had been nominated for this award. We are so proud of our inspirational instructors who are dedicated to improving the lives of our young people through our programmes, and delighted at the recognition this award brings to our military youth engagement programmes. To receive a Highly Commended award from such a prestigious organisation is a great honour. Thank you to Greg Clark MP who nominated us, and we thoroughly enjoyed attending the awards ceremony at The Houses of Parliament.”

Greg Clark MP for Royal Tunbridge Wells said “Challenger Troop does amazing work with young people in Kent who benefit from the leadership, self discipline and confidence it instils in them.  They have given a life-changing experience to so many young people, many of whom would otherwise have dropped out of school and started their lives without the opportunities we take for granted,  They are an outstanding choice for the ‘Inspire the House’ Award and I am delighted for them that they have achieved this national recognition.”

Further information is available on the Kids Count website where they say “By creating the Kids Count Inspiration Awards, we wish to recognise those individuals & organisations that have, quite literally, inspired young people and their communities. We want to recognise those that address issues that affect their lives by creating initiatives that are grounded in practicality, realism and make a positive difference, whilst giving a voice to young people to determine and influence their own futures.”

Thank you to everyone who has sent messages of congratulations, here are some examples:

Dear Simon,

What excellent news. Congratulations. You and your team really do put absolutely everything into what you do for all the “at risk” young people of today. There will be many who will be really grateful for all you have done for them. At some stage in the future, they will look back and remember the Challenger Troop ethos. You are building a future for these young,

I am so pleased you and your team have this recognition.

Hopefully Challenger Troop will continuing to grow successfully well into the future, so that many more can benefit from the programme, It is such an important project.

My very best wishes to you and everyone involved.
