Challenger Troop youngsters awestruck at The British Military Tournament
On Saturday 7th December, Challenger Troop took 16 of our highest achievers to the British Military Tournament at Earls Court, London. They watched dramatic re-enactments, nail-biting high speed chases, daring stunts and also had a glimpse into the battlefields of the future using state of the art technology.
When asked what their highlights were, our young people included the White Helmets, The Motorcycle Display Team of the Royal Corps of Signals, the Musical Drive of the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery and getting up close to an Apache helicopter and a replica Chinook.
A particularly poignant moment was the British Legends Finale, a tribute to those injured serving and ex-servicemen who have overcome disabilities to walk to the North Pole, row the Atlantic and compete in the Olympic Games. Lee Goodridge, teams manager for London, said “Our young people were visibly affected by the standing ovation given to these heroes in recognition of their legendary exploits, I am sure this is something that will be a lasting memory for them”.
One youngster said “we absolutely enjoyed every bit of it”, and another said “when I grow up I will bring my family to see this show”.
We were delighted to have had the opportunity to take our youngsters to attend this fabulous event, which proved to be inspirational, entertaining, educational and memorable.
