Challenger Troop meets Education Secretary at DfE Remembrance Event
Challenger Troop was delighted to join The Department for Education’s First World War Act of Remembrance event in London on Tuesday.
The event recognised the centenary of the start of the First World War, with a two-minute silence marked by stirring bugle renditions of The Last Post and Reveille.
After a moving service, The Right Hon. Nicky Morgan MP, Secretary of State for Education, was introduced to Challenger Troop staff and participant, to discover first-hand the difference our programmes are making to the lives of young people.
Included as part of the event was an exhibition, organised and hosted by the DfE, demonstrating the role played by the Armed Forces in The Great War. Challenger Troop CIC was proud to have been invited to present a stand there, to showcase the role we are playing in the Department’s Military Ethos in Schools programme.
Displays were also provided by Firepower, The National Royal Artillery Museum, the National Army Museum; educational charities including Never Such Innocence and Reading Force, and the Army Families Federation, as well as other military ethos providers.
